  • (Dec 8 2018: 1:30pm) Meet and Greet Afternoon!
    Come one, come all. Join us for steaming-hot chocolate, hot dogs, and warm company. Check out the trails. Meet fellow skiers. There will be adult skis available, so bring along uninitiated friends and show them what this great activity is all about! Yup, there's already plenty of snow to go around.

    Register on December 8th (See above), but the final deadline is Dec 28th. As well as the Bunnies (age 3-5) and Jackrabbits (6-8) We'll have the Track Attack group for ages 9-12 this year

    Toonie Ski and Snowshoe day!

    So what can you get for a toonie? Just a lukewarm coffee at Timmies? or ....
    A full day of nordic skiing on groomed trails, with maybe a hot chocolate thrown in. (BYOChoc)
    Take a friend and come join us for real nordic skiing, away from town, surrounded by real trees, with hills that go both up and down, and warming cabins, and Canada jays, and chickadees.
    Ski all day Saturday, February 17th for $2.00. We know you (and your friends) will love it, so you'll be happy to learn that day rates for non-members will be $10 per day for the rest of the season.

    This weekend is (was) a big GO!

    We've had snow! It's warming up wonderfully The trails are groomed!
    Youth and Adult classes are all on for Saturday.
    Are you interested in learning some advanced cross-country ski techniques with king of the trails Mr. Pat O'Reilly himself?
    Would you like a 15 minute demo on how to wax your ski's? or are you looking for some basic adult lessons that's fun and slow paced?
    This Saturday Jan 13th, from 12:00 till approx 3:00pm Pat and myself weill be bringing these sought-after interests to the ski club.
    Waxing demo is free. Basic and advanced lessons are $40.00 includes use of ski's, boots, poles, plus lesson.
    If you have your own equipment the cost is $30.00 and a quick email requesting a space for you.
    Lessons can be paid by cash or check made payable to the BMNSA the morning of. Note we do not have electronic means or carry cash with us. Who's excited now? Email to Judy

    Youth Cross-Country Ski Program

    The youth cross country ski program and club lending of ski equipment began January 6, at 1pm at the Cat Shack near the large open ski staduim on the xcountry ski trails at Bear Mountain. Park in the parking lot off the main road, and then continue in passing the first lodge, turning left past the large outdoor stadium, until you reach the Cat Shack where the ski equipment will be handed out.
    We had a head coach and several volunteer assistant coaches ready to begin that ski year! Depending on the number and ages of participants, we aim to organize the kids in groups of ages 3-5, 6-8, and 9 and up. Children ages 3 and 4 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the lesson (which will be 1hr for 3-4yr olds), whether on skis or not.
    Child/Family registration for the program is online at Child membership for ages 6-18 is $65. Lessons/rental is $50 for the season.
    The program was a great success. Let's hope for lots of snow before then!
  • (December 15-17, 2017)We held the Introduction to Community Coaching and Community Coaching clinics
    Nine skiers came out to learn the basics of coaching. Thanks to Jen for having organized it, and to Cory, the instuctor who came up from Prince George to offer guidance. Despite the paucity of snow, Pat groomed the upper loops to perfection. Our youth program is always looking for more help, so sign up at and come join us on the hill!

Welcome to our cross country website!


The Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association [BMNSA] is a non-profit recreational association, in association with Cross Country BC [see below], to provide access, facilities and opportunities for all ages to learn and experience the sport of cross country skiing in the South Peace Region on the Peace River Regional District Area. We are volunteered based with no paid staff.


The trails are available for all-season use; we encourage hiking, cross-country running, wildlife-viewing, mountain biking, horseback riding, orienteering, outdoor environmental studies and similar non-motorized recreational activities.


Cross Country BC is the provincial sport governing body for cross country skiing in British Columbia. As such Cross Country BC partners with other provincial/territorial sport governing bodies for cross-country skiing and together they constitute a national sport organization - Visit


Goals of the Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association:

  • - Provide a facility which adds to the year around quality of life in the Dawson Creek and Peace River Regional District South Peace Area
    - Increase club membership to 400 members by 2019 with a focus on kids, youth, families and seniors throughout the Peace River Region
  • - Increase opportunities to develop the physical fitness and health of the region's population
  • - Provide a competition class Nordic Ski facility for hosting Northern and BC Winter Games
  • - Provide a competition class Nordic Ski training facility to support the development of Nordic skiing in our region
  • - Continue our tradition with volunteerism, multiplying greatly the impact of each dollar we obtain in support of our projects.
